Enclave is Back in Business

By: Morgan Busse In: News

Hey everyone! As you’ve probably realized, Enclave has been quiet for the last couple of months. Unfortunately the publisher which bought Enclave a year ago (Gilead) encountered a speed bump and had to temporarily put a hold on all publication efforts. The good news is Gilead (and Enclave) now has a new partner in publishing, which means we are back in business.

Gilead is now in a cooperative venture with Kregel Publications. Gilead will remain its own entity in seeking and publishing Christian fiction, but Kregel will help in the distribution of that fiction. Enclave, as an imprint of Gilead, will also remain as it has been: under the leadership of Steve Laube and producing excellent Christian science fiction and fantasy.

What does this mean for you as readers? That you can be expecting more great books from Enclave, especially those titles and series you’ve been waiting for. We will be releasing a new book every month starting November 2017, so be watching your inbox or your social media outlets for more information.

Here is a link to the official press release regarding the new partnership between Gilead and Kregel Publications: www.kregel.com/news/fiftieth-anniversary-edition-of-ichristyi-heralds-new-publishing-partnership

Steve Laube will also be posting about Enclave and these new changes on Monday (a link will be provided once the post goes live).

    To whom it may concern.

I had no idea Enclave was taking a vacation when I sent some correspondence (about a month back) needing some feedback on how to submit my ‘MYTH’ 3 book package. If you do not have the questions I sent you from this website, I will be happy to resend.

Thank you for your time and I’m glad you’re back in business.

Hahah! Yah, my bank account shall suffer too once November’s kickoff brings us a book a month. 😉 But my imagination will again soar!

Does this mean that some of the Enclave books which have gone out of print (such as the first two books in Nadine Brandes’ Out of Time series) will be available as paperbacks again? I’ve been looking all over the Internet for those, but nobody has copies at a reasonable price. 🙁

Yep! It will take some time to reprint the books that went out of print the last few months, but when they are ready, we’ll let you know!

Technically they went “out of stock” not “out of print.” In the publishing biz, OP (or out of print) means the book is not going to be reprinted or made available. In the case of Nadine’s books, for example, the existing inventory had been depleted in paperback. But since the company had been in hiatus the books were not replenished.

Once the new distribution situation is complete and inventory levels are assessed, then books will be reprinted and available again. My hope is that this will happen before Summer’s end.

Will the Follower of the Word series also come back into print? I’ve really been wanting to show the books off on my shelves.

Hello! Excited to see Enclave back up and running. If I had submitted a manuscript in the last month, does this mean you guys were not actively looking at those? Just curious to know if I need to resend.

Here’s what I found out: it looks like everything that was submitted since last June has been on hiatus. There is quite a slush pile, but they hope to make their way through it in a timely manner. If you haven’t heard back in a couple of months, I would suggest resubmitting or sending an email.

Hi Morgan! I did submit to Enclave a few months back. On the submission form I was a little confused. In one place it was clear that I should only send a proposal and not the manuscript, but on the actual submission page it called for the manuscript. I debated, but included it. I hope if I made a mistake my proposal will still be considered! Thank you! Victoria Bastedo- Author of Sagistic- Submitted to you April 1, 2017

No worries, Victoria. Yes, we like people to follow guidelines, but I don’t think you’ll be rejected for that. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I will let our submissions people know about the inconsistency!
